Agriculture: what you don't know and why its killing you

Never before in world history has agriculture been so over looked by teh general population. Agriculture is the backbone of all civilization. The egyptians set up camp on the banks of the nile for its fertile lands and ability to harvest crops, sustain life, and provide irrigation needs. The Mesopotamians set up along the tigeris and Euphrates rivers for the same purposes. all of western civilization has done the same. its a natural occurring for agriculture to the begging of a new civilization. when america was colonized in the late 1600's and up until the industrial revolution in the late 1800's its whole society, and economic structure revolved around one thing, the harvest season, agriculture, sustainability with their food supply, crop rotation, and most of all a closeness of knowing their labor and work had mixed with the earth to created, nurture, and grown their own food. thats powerful stuff and until about 50 years this is what that agriculture looked like:

but no image of small fmaily local farms is more powerful than this one:
This dear readers is a true american farmer. i read about this guy, he is from kansas and grows grain, and has his whole life, and before him, his father, and before that his fathers father. he mixes his sweat, blood, tears, time, effort, heart, and soul into the soil to produce for YOU. to feed you, thats his job, and to me that is the most noble of all professions in the world, and sure as hell more noble than the pulpit, because we see how the catholic church uses that. this man is a hero, not just to me, but the whole world. he wakes up works his ass off like no one else, and asks and wants for nothing, but an honest wage, with integrity. and guess how much this man makes a year for feeding the world? $18,000 a year. thats right 18 grand, while the guy who owns IBP, ConAgra, Monsanto, and all the other agri-businesses make millions.

So lets talk abotu these agri-businesses. and i hope you read this through because this is going to shape our world int he next 50 years in the form of billions, not millions, billions of people dying of sickness, and of mal-nutrition. Cargill is the largest private owned corporation in america and is the worlds largest grain trader. Cargill with its buddy Continental Grain control 50% of all grain exported from america (including the man in the picture above).  They are also the second largest meat packer in america, and when compined with Iowa Beef Processing and ConAgra, these three corporations make up a staggering 80% of the meat packign industry in america today. if those are not monopolies i don't know what is. the likeliness that you will buy meat from these people, or grain is so high that now every 9 out of 10 times you buy beef, chicken, pork, any kind of cold cereal, or bread with grain, its coming through them and here is how it works:
I recently bought a gallon of milk from my local organic grocery store, NOT a chain a completely local place. There is a dairy farm about 10 miles from my grandparents home, and it's located in Pelzer, South Carolina. The Happy Cow Dairy Farm. I bought my milk at the local store from happy cow dairy. I got home and noticed we had a gallon of PET milk still in our fridge. I took it out to compare the two. The ingredients in the happy cow milk? WHOLE MILK. the ingredients in the PET milk, well it took up one whole side of the gallon with words i can't even pronounce. The happy cow milk was made, and bottled in Pelzer, and driven on the back of some country boys pickup into the big city to be sold. The PET milk? Milk from Texas, bottled in St. Louis and transported in a semi to Greenville, South Carolina. somebody tell me how is that healthy, sustainable, and right? you can't. and if you think its just the milk you are 100% wrong dear reader, and here is my proof:

This is were your food comes from, and what are these critters fed? Grain, corn to be exact. and how do we grow so much corn as to feed all these animals and be able to feed all of us humans? SUBSIDIES. massive government funded subsidies. between 1995 and 2003 the us government used 37.5 BILLION tax payer dollars for corn subsidies, that inturn got those corn farmers an average debt to the government of about 30,000 dollars, and a yearly wage on average of about 20,000 dollars. fucked up right? but thats not all. that corn is grown in a field, and corn as we know it is one of the most pest ridden plants in the world. basically corn has a weak immune system, it requires pesticides, fertilizers, and all kinds of other treatments for its weak "immune" system. so what are these made out of? well one company makes a whoel lotta chemicals for that corn, that company is Monsanto, a company that is working on genetically modified food, cloning of animals to produce more food, and they make that handy stuff called Round Up, oh and they invented that lovely chemical Agent Orange. Well the basis for all of these chemicals is what? think of something else that sucks up massive tax payer subsidies........what could that be? BIG OIL. these chemicals are known as petro-chemicals. the by products of crude oil (gasoline, diesel, etc.) are used in making these chemicals for farming. and then in planes they fly over the crops and dump this shit all over them, preserving the crop, while ruining the soil the crop grows in, and causing the chemicals to soak into the ground and down stream into the ocean creating dead spots (look that shit up). thus creating a completely unsustainable food growing process. they avoid crop rotation (which is what your supposed to do to keep the soil fertile)  and slowly, but surely leading to the demise of agriculture as we know it. in the next 50 years, i predict our food supply will reach a bubble similar to the housing bubble that crashed in 2008, causing widespread mayhem and complete crop destruction. thus causing billions to die because they simply cant do what? EAT.

now it seems all gloom and doom right? of course thats because it is gloom and doom. but there is one thing that can fix this, and only one. it can renew our soil to fertile levels, it is naturally pest free, requires no form of fertilization, it has 400 different types of strains, it makes more by products than its rivals corn and crude oil, and even more impressive it grows anywhere (depending on the strain) at any time of the year, unlike corn which can only be grown during the warm season. so what is the miracle plant?
HEMP IS THE ANSWER!!!!
and if yu ever wondered what hemp can make here are a few of those things:

this house is made of hemp. yes you read that correctly this is the first home in america made completely out of hempcrete. its location? Asheville North Carolina, just 45 minutes from where i sit right now. it is the most energy efficient home in the southeastern united states, and 100% sustainable. then you see the hemp provides clothing, textiles, bio-diesel, livestock feed, plastics, and so many other uses. it is the true miracle plant. our founding fathers grew it, laws used to require you to grow it, the chinese understood its power well before christ was born, and now every industrialized nation in the world grows it except one, and its the one you live in, because the government has lied to you and told you its marijuana and you could ge thigh from it. well we all know thats impossible. the us is the largest importer of hemp in the world, yet exports none. this plant could save the world, as we know it, and with no doubt in my mind save the united states from utter destruction. it is the only answer folks to our ailments, and you may say well how can a plant save the country, or event he world thats stupid, we need technology, and math and science and all that shit. you know what i say to that shit, fuck off, and suck it. because at the end of the day none of that shit is naturally occurring, none of that has ever or ever will be the backbone of all civilization. does technology math and science keep you alive? does it provide you with necessary nutrition? does it revitalize the soil? if you answered yes to any of those then just leave my blog and dont come back because clearly you are to ignorant to understand the severity of this situation. so while that ipad, iphone, iFondlemyballs devices you have are nice, and sleek and shiny and provide instant gratification, they don't help you live in anyway what so ever, but this plant right here is the most powerful plant in the world, and it, not steve jobs, not monsanto, not bill gates, not warren buffett, and not agri-business, will save this world and there is only one way to do it. CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS TODAY AND TELL THEM YOU WANT INDUSTRIAL HEMP FOR AMERICA.

i hope this opens some eyes, and makes the world understand the severity of our current agricultural meltdown. this is the single most important issue today. the reason? it is so intertwined with the economy, the environment, our culture, and all other aspects of life that it can no longer be ignored. want to make a difference heres how:
shop local, buy local
go tot he weekend farmers market
only buy local milk, eggs, and dairy products
only buy grass feed beef
only buy hormone free chicken and pork
most of all CALL YOUR POLITICIANS AND DEMAND FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE IN THIS COUNTRY!!!

happy reveling every one
